Cooking with Chef Cory

To ring in the Chinese New Year, over two hundred 1st and 2nd grade students from Don Callejon Elementary School enjoyed a cultural presentation and cooking demonstration from Chef Cory, including a kitchen tour and food tasting.

Chinese New Year celebrations continued at Yan Can Asian Bistro as a more "mature" class of students attended Chef Martin Yan and Chef Cory’s cooking classes, complete with a multi-course menu and gift bags of Lee Kum Kee sauce!

Yan Can’s Chef Cory Wins Best Signature Dish!

Chef Cory of Downtown Pleasant Hill’s Yan Can Asian Bistro was honored to cook and present a special fusion cuisine dinner to a delegate of Top 100 awardees from all over the United States at Yan Can Asian Bistro on January 8, 2012. Present to enjoy Chef Cory’s Steamed Mussels, Lobster with Garlic Noodles and other delicacies were famous Los Angeles television personality Theresa Lin and Chef Liu Feng Kai, one of China’s premier chefs. Chef Liu is famous for preparing “state” banquets for visiting heads of state and for many Chinese and international political figures.

Chef Cory was honored to win the Best Signature Dish award for his “Fiery Dragon Tails with Mandarin Gold” entree. Take a handful of fiery-looking dried red chili peppers and watch them glisten in the wok, curling up to resemble fiery dragon tails. Fire it up or keep it mild – depends on your dragon’s breath. Add a final touch of sweetness with Mandarin oranges – same sound as gold in Cantonese – bring in the money for this Year of the Dragon!

Congratulations to Chef Cory! Be sure to visit Yan Can Asian Bistro soon and try the award-winning Fiery Dragon Tails with Mandarin Gold for yourself.
